Visit to the Port of Houston
Description
BVL Supply Chain Day at the largest container port in the US Gulf
Each year, more than 241 million tons of cargo move through the greater Port of Houston. The port has been instrumental in the city of Houston’s development as a center of international trade and is consistently ranked 1st in the United States for foreign waterborne tonnage, U.S. imports, and export tonnage and 2nd in U.S. in total tonnage.
Join us on April 19th to learn more about and tour the Port of Houston!
After a brief introduction on the port, there will be a discussion on the Foreign Trade Zone program, a US Federal Government program that can deliver substantial benefits to importing and exporting companies, similar to other countries’ ‘free port’ or ‘free zone’ programs. Port Houston’s Shane Williams, Manager FTZ and Economic Development, will brief attendees on the benefits that can be obtained from participating in the FTZ program. Companies involved in electronics manufacturing and other high-value-added manufacturing usually derive the most benefits from the FTZ program.
An exciting guided tour will also be provided following the discussion. Please remember to bring with you a valid U.S. ID. Forms of identification accepted are a U.S. Driver's License or Passport.
